Picture Perfect Place (Alternate Ending)

by Jenni Marie   Apr 3, 2007

Silky sand soft beneath me
As I lay gazing at the stars
Peace enveloping me like a blanket
Can't believe we've come so far.

Hearing the ocean splashing at the shore
As I rest my head upon your chest
Our hands locked together tightly
Here, I could forever rest.

Whenever you're near me
My heart picks up it's pace
My whole body starts to tremble
While a smile appears on my face

Want to stay in your embrace always
Never want to leave your side
My love growing stronger each day
My feelings I can no longer hide.

Sky which was a cloudless blue
Slowly turning into night
Darkening shadows around us
Yet everything seems so bright.

Closing my eyes contently
Then shooting bolt upright
Peering into darkness
As my heart jumps in fright.

Seeing a huge shadow reflected upon the water
Slowly starting to turn around
My knees begin to shake and quiver
At the horrid sight I have found.

Where once you lay beside me
There's now a crazed look in your eyes
Glaring in my direction
As you start to wave me goodbye.

Slowly backing away
As you life your head towards the sky
Staring at your transforming body
Can't help but start to cry.

Rage appearing on your face
As your teeth begin to lengthen
Letting out a frightening howl
As your body begins to strengthen

Starting to run
As fast as I possibly can
Hearing the thunder of feet behind
Knowing that you're no longer a man.

Leaping upon my back
Crashing to the floor
Wondering if very soon
My life will be no more.

Foul breath upon my face
Dead, I will be soon
How could we have forgotten
That tonight is a full moon?

**Written for an activity in CC&P: New Room, all we had to do was use two styles within one poem, for example start romantic, then swap to erotic.
I decided to swap genre's altogether and go from romantic to dark.**

    Excellently done!
I never ever saw that ending coming!
As i was reading, i was thinking how beautiful it was and how much i could relate to it.. it was almost magical..

Thent when the whole tone just changed, it took me by surprise! But it was brilliantly written.
You should be very proud of yourself!
