I can only be me

by The Pessimistic Peabody   Apr 3, 2007

I can only be
the original me
I don't want to change
who i'm meant to be

Blue is not green
and red is not blue
so just let me be me
and I'll let you be you

Dogs are dogs
and cats are cats
I am just me
and thats the facts

Spotted, dotted
striped or mottled
You can't change a can
into a bottle

We are both different
you and me
so don't make me change
just let me be me

I liked this poem.. The message was very loud and clear, it will be a much simpler world when everyone is allowed to be who they are and not forced to be something that they aren't.

I agree with 20sMiLe07 though that stanza was a little bit forced and took away from the beauty of the poem itself.. change that one stanza and the poem will be 100 times better. But other than that one little issue well done, very creative, and something that I've never read about before.

Another good poem but perhaps not s good as your rest. I feel that

    Spotted, dotted
    striped or mottled
    You can't change a can
    into a bottle

was i bit forced to be honest but still got through menaing well done ::D
