I Had No Time To Spend That Day...

by Serena   Apr 3, 2007

I had no time to spend that day...
I was so busy with many things.
Doing this, doing that.
And never really thinking.

You asked if I was doing anything
that night.
But I said "Things to do, people to see."
You just said maybe another time.

So I did what I did.
Too busy to see,
how much I loose
when I don't want minutes to keep.

And while speedy as I was,
I missed the important, little things.

I had no time to spend that day...
no time to spend that hour...
none to spend that minute...
for that second...

Slowing down was never an
option. Stopping and looking
around at the world.
I couldn't.

Doing this and that.
One thing, then another.
If only I'd stopped, and sat.
I could've spent more time with others.

But being me,
never realizing
I kept going at lighting speed
and never ceasing.

Until eventually,
all was lost.
Going so quick,
had a high cost.

Distanced from friends,
then eventually, having none.
Always going had changed me,
now a lone person.

Wishing I could've stopped
for a moment
to smell the flowers
rather than going super fast instead.

Now I regret what I'd done.
There's nothing I can do,
Pushing my friends away,
I'm such a fool.

But of course,
I always had to say...

I had no time to spend that day...
no time to spend that hour...
none to spend that minute...
for that second...
none... until my time had
faded
away...
