Carnival of Life

by aino   Apr 4, 2007

Grins of deception
Scream of fright
Lies, disappointment, and vigorous hate
Fake smiles, unrealistic bodies, and unforgiving personalities
Step in and join the carnival of life
Become the presenter, the entertainer and the viewer
Hide behind the colors, wigs and makeup
Stand in rows, one next to another
Each one of you pretending to be
Not allowed to show any facial expression besides the forced smile
When I look again into your eyes
I see nothing, no light no depth
Minds forced to think, never questioning
Knowing nothing more then that single trick
The same show put on each night
This is the real carnival of life
There are no balloons only empty cages
No laughter, but the deadly silence or roar of thunder
When asleep you remember that dream
The dream with only one desire
To be able to put down the heavy mask
Escape it all, escape the carnival, and escape your nightmares
