A Beautiful Lie

by LostLikeTearsInRain   Apr 5, 2007

Slowly but surely
She forgets he was born
Not a tear is shed
She refuses to mourn

Hope has lost it's purpose
It has no meaning any more
He cries every night
But what for?

A girl who never seemed to mind
If he fell and broke his heart
A girl to which he swore
He would never part

So a lie is what
Their romance was built upon
But as the dust clears
They see their love is gone

It came crashing down
But it didn't make a sound
She keeps him chained
By his own heart he is bound

As she prances around
He hides his face to cry
Ashamed of what he's become
His last prayer is to die

A life worth living
Is a life worth fighting for
A life without hope
Is more like an unhinged door

One that is slowly closing
But is resistant to force
Come join this boy for supper
Heart ache is the main course

He eats it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
It makes his knees shake and his heart much thinner
But what's the point in a heart turned gray
That is worthless without her love anyway?

The sound of her laughter
Reaches his deafened ears
He looks up with a smile
Fighting back tears

The smile is quickly erased
And he has to shut his eyes
Denying the scene before him
His world unties

She found another guy
Someone new
He opens his mouth to scream out
"But I love you!"

But words don't come forth
He just gapes like a fool
He can only watch
As she breaks a lover's rule

He thought she was to be his bride
But then he found out what was true
He may have found the one
But she had found the two

You penned this poem perfectly to the category. I really enjoyed the passion and emotion this poem flowed with. Each line and stanza seemed to be written directly from the soul. Great write.
