Walking down the footpath
watching people walk by
nothing but a stranger
no clearer then a lie
gazing for just a moment
into her bright blue eyes
but no one sees the darkness
behind them that she hides
staring into windows
that show her pretty face
no one could imagine
she's left so empty of grace
sitting at the gutter
watching buses pass
people that surround her
come and go so fast
no one sees her anger
or resentment for this place
to her it's so depressing
no one remembers that girls face
laying on the sidewalk
it's getting darker now
too dark to be able to tell
a girl so lost and broken
sees going home as hell
she stares into the clouds
darkened in the sky
just for a moment
she almost wanted to cry
just months ago
she never thought she'd die
but without his love
she'd lost her will to live
just to be with him for longer
anything she could give
she stared into the shadows
longing for an answer
it was becoming darker and just like the pain
the cold was spreading through her like cancer
he wasn't in her life for long
but she knew he was the one
dependent on him from the very day
her pain had just begun
he didn't know he'd hurt her
he didn't care if he did
too proud to give her a minute
just to try to understand it
she tried to tell him so many times
just what he meant to her
she thought she'd have longer
but he was gone before she knew
the words she was looking for
was i love you
she watched him from the sidewalk
about to take his life
he didnt try to hurt her
as he simply pulled out the knife
all those nights
it seemed he wouldn't care
he longed for someone to tell him
that maybe he should go home
that the girl that understood him
had been feeling so alone
he didnt try to hurt her
but he knew it hurt her inside
to watch him go out
day and night, time after time
it left them on the street
dreading to go home
silent and close to tears
she could never feel more alone
standing there so numb
not knowing what to say
not knowing what to do
then the girl remembered
frightened as the tension grew
as he began to fall
she started screaming, "i love you"
