Even when dead, may I live forever....

by RunningOnEmpty   Apr 5, 2007

My
Bones crack
I walk and feel
Pain I've never felt before;
All over my body.

It's the one thing that I have feared the most--
Growing older.
I feel my body
Begin to fail,
And I know that year's worth of wear and tear
Have begun to take affect.

I look around and notice
My vision is blurry.
The sign,
I had once looked at and read
With such ease
Is now a strain on my eyes.

Every step I take,
My bones
Crack
And
Creak.

The world also seems a lot
Quieter,
More muffled than before.
I have to bend closer towards someone in order to
Hear them.

I fear death because
It...
Is so close...
I've never felt so vulnerable,
So weak,
So helpless.

A force so beyond my control
Takes over me.
My body slowly
Deteriorates as time moves forward
... Leaving me behind.

Someday, I won't be here.
That time is coming
Soon.
I just wish that when my body
Fails me,
You will never
Forget me.
When I die,
Remember me.
When I pass away,
Tell the stories of my life to
Your children,
So that,
Even when dead,
I may live
Forever...
And ever...
And ever...
And ever.

Wow, I loved this poem! It drew me in from beginning to end! I felt your emotions more than I've have any other authors, ever on this site. The flow was unique, and expressions heard. All together a great write. 5/5 hun, keep it up!

So you think if people stop talking about you, you will die. Huh? Well... yes, maybe! Now, I remember myself writing a poem similar to this, a while ago.
How about this? “do a good thing and you will live forever”.
I love to think about things like this.
We’re going to live forever anyway, even though our names may soon be forgotten in this world. there are other world as well and we also have a spirit that is supposed to live forever and besides, when we’re no longer in this world, we’ll no longer care about having our names in the list of the names of the people who were once alive. Or maybe that’s just me. Hmm?
Thanks for the interesting read! it was well expressed :)
