Forgive Them For Their Sins.

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Apr 5, 2007

One red rose, desolate and wilted;
Between two white palms, grasped tight,
And inside the casket, his head is tilted --
Looking up to his friends faces so white.

Amy, his first love, tears streaming down her face,
A faded photograph quivering in her hands,
She falls to her knees, but she falls with grace.
For she knows he is the only one who'd understand.

Joe -- with crystal tears in his blue eyes,
Mumbling lost words under his breath,
And he shouts out the 'how's and the 'why's
But he knows you can't take back death.

Sarah, with an I love you trapped in her head,
She looks down at him, so blue and frail,
Facing the reality that she once dread,
And now she knows that life is no fairytale.

Mark, with his face scratched and bruised,
Still seeing the two bright headlights,
The car - skidding along the dirt road they once cruised,
Wishing that he could go back to that night.

The preacher, praying to God to take care of him,
And thanking him that the other four are still alive,
Turning, he forgives them for all of their sins,
For they let their dear friend drink and drive.

A very real look into the effects and happenings of drinking and driving.
This write holds a very strong deep message!
Though sad ... the reality of it makes for an excellent poem and will surely makes those who drink and drive think.
    Take care

Jenna, what a touching story. It was extremely well written and by adding names and emotions to each person, it made the poem more real than many that I have read. Fantastic job!

    Ciao~
