To love a lie...

by Rolo   Apr 6, 2007

The tick of the clock is relentless in action
Sulking in solitude gives no satisfaction
I'd rather reveal my weakness at hand
Than know I lost what my heart did demand

Falsely misled, I now accept the defeat
Which my mind endured throughout the deceit
Tears only burn the anger layered deep
glossing my vision only hides what's asleep

I broke off myself with resentment so great
I have followed my heart, just a second too late
Logic has fallen, free will was proven wrong
Confliction from within is the worst kind of strong

The cause to my obstruction, the source of my fall
The hurt you've given me, yet I can't blame you at all
The hatred is present, though it exists not for you
My dearest of enemies, which my heart did pursue

My unconditional love is a scar in the making;
A metaphoric sign says it was all worth the breaking
I gave you my best, yet you pushed me for more
If only you saw the blood spewed on the floor

Embedded in my mind, carved into my soul
Not saying I love you is an act of control
Stay out of my life for my heart keeps you near
I fell in love with a lie but it's secretly sincere

I tend to drift off, though it's never for rest
Worse with each outcome, my scars can attest
For myself, repulsion grows, but it's only just begun
My true misfortune's out: I loved you from day one.
