One Cold Winter's Night (Part 2 - Her Story)

by LostLikeTearsInRain   Apr 7, 2007

She lays in her room
Looking at the ceiling waiting for him to call
It's strange to her how she can like someone so much twice
But the last boy she loved just made her fall

She used to waste hours thinking about him
But she's moved on and found a new guy
This one is yet to make her sad
He's yet to make her cry

There's still a bit of doubt
As to whether or not she still loves him or not
But she doesn't let anyone know
She figures it's just a meaningless thought

When she actually stops to think about it
He did make her feel different than any of these new guys
He made her feel like she was the only person that mattered
Like every time she looked into his eyes

She fell in love all over again
"No, he brought only gloomy days."
She tells herself
"Besides, I love Matt now anyways."

With thoughts flowing through her brain
She hears a knock on her front door
She jumps up to see who it is
And what they could possibly what in the morning at four

The man that stands before her
Is wearing bloody paramedic clothes
And is holding a small box
She stands in the door wiggling her toes

He hands her the box
And clears his throat
But he coughs back his own voice
And instead hands her a note

The note reads:
"He told me to give this to you, he said you'd know who "he" is and that you should live happier now that you no longer have to worry about him anymore. He said you deserve the best, and he's sorry he couldn't give that to you. He said that he'll be looking out for you from heaven and that he can shake hands with the man who made the most beautiful angel on Earth. He said that this isn't goodbye, that this is merely farewell. Lastly, he said he'll always love you."

With this last part
She falls to her knees and let's the madness ensue
Screaming up at the sky she says
"But I still love you too!"

Her cries seem to fall to the floor
She can't control herself
It seems she finally took his heart
Off the old dusty shelf

Remembering the box
She throws it open
And what she sees
Erases what's left of her copin'

It seems to gleam in the light
It makes her heart sting
What's in the box
Is a wedding ring
