This is Nighttime

by Romancing the Darker Side   Apr 8, 2007

This is what nighttime feels like, child
What it tastes of, the sounds of midnight
As she blows her empty whispers past
The ear of all who dare to listen

These are what the stars appear like, child
Though we know none exist
As light is void in our shallow hearts
The ticking of dawn has stopped

And this is the love that darkness has brought
A razor and a wrist and a girl
All entwined upon destiny
Feeling none other than the truth surrounding us

This is nighttime, and this is pain
There is no sunlight here, we feel only darkness
Our empty hearts would have beat in the same rhythm
Had there been more than just hatred here

I thought this poem although good at the start was well played out until the last few lines. I think you cheapened your work with the cutting theme you had a good thing going but not really leading into the next thought you just jumped from one idea to another. Oh well nice try Plot121

This is a very dark well-written poem. The concept was very good. Not to mention the flow and word choice were great! 5/5

Yes, that is one of my favorite combiniations. Thank you for the compliment!

I've noticed you seem to like the whole razor/wrist/girl combination, but I liked this poem better than the other one, because it had less focus and rather emphasized the point of your poem. Great work!
