Because of you...

She looks out the window
Searching for freedom,
Searching for some way to escape the iron walls,
And the barred windows.
But as usual, not a path to be seen.

In her world of loss,
Not a glimpse of light, not a ray of sunshine.
They have made their way to a better place,
Where smiles are found,
And laughter shared.

Darkness reings in her world of prison,
Not even a sparkle in her eye.
She had had one long ago,
A shining star in her cristal eyes,
But you were there to make it leave,
You were there to crash her dreams.

As the raindrops fall behind the bars,
Silver drops silently scrape her cheeks.
As she thinks of you, and what you did
She hides her head in the pillow,
Hiding her tears, drying them fast.

She takes a look at her wrists,
Reads her past in the old wounds.
The deepest ones were made for you,
Were because of you, and what you did.

But the razor hadn't kept its promise,
The pain had not gone away.
It was still there, every minute,
Every instant of her ruined life.

And because of you her life was spared,
Because of you she went too far.
She took the knife and opened her heart,
Enlarging slightly the wounds you had begun to make.
