Sweet Little Nothings

Whisper your sweet little nothings,
And promise to hold her close.
Lie straight to her face;
She's the one who matters the most.

Go tell her that you love her;
Tell her you'll never leave her side.
Then watch as she falls apart,
As the pillow catches tears she cried.

She never knew you planned this.
Her feelings were always true.
You led her on and built her up;
She fell since you are through.

You knew that this would happen,
And yet, you show no remorse?
You just let her think that
Your love would take its course.

Every time you start to feel something,
You continuously pull away.
Are you afraid to love someone?
Are you afraid of what they'll say?

You put her on this pedestal;
A spotlight, so high up there.
As you whispered sweet little nothings,
As if you really cared.

Laying there, so broken;
All she did was trust in you.
How could you break her fragile heart?
You split it clean, in two.

With your sweet little nothings,
You raised her up so high.
She finally crashed back down
When you stopped telling the lie.

How does that make you feel?
Do you do it just for fun?

Your instinct tells you to run.

Hide away the rest of your life;
Keep it bottles up inside.
You're too tough to tell your friends

So keep ruining your chances;
