Daisy Chains

As little girls we used to sit
Among the daisies in the glen
And chain the flowers all together
Our friendship then, would never end

As we reached our days as teens
With first love, broken hearts we'd share
When you saw one of us
The other one was always there.

We graduated from high school
Together in our college days
It wasn't until we each got married
That we went our separate ways.

Many miles were there between us
Each facing trials of our own
But through the years we lent hope
To each other on the phone.

And travel through these many years
We'd chance to meet from time to time
And see each other through all the pain
That clutched our hearts and tore our minds.

Our children grown and here we are
Two souls that swore to never part
But though the distance in between
Has never seemed to stay our hearts

We've lived our lives through daisy chains
For many years have bound us fair
With comfort to each one of us
When life has been to hard to bare.

I know I have but to call your name
And somehow you will see
The friendship in those daisy chains
Bind us together, you and me..
