Masks

by Tricksy   Apr 10, 2007

Don't be fooled by what you see
Don't let your mind accept what you think is me
I'm not really here
I wear a smile,
But touch it and it will melt away
My face is a mask
Made from delicate glass
Painted with the most complicated design
Happiness is an illusion
Sadness my only sign
Of reality
And what I seem to be
Is not real
I wear a thousand masks
And none of them is me
Please
Help me see
That it's OK to be me
I'm afraid to cry
But I'm not afraid to die
How can this be what I meant to do
How can I let my true light shine through
And would you accept me
My fears,
My flaws,
My scars?
Or will you turn away in disgust
Repulsed by what you see
Please, hear what I'm not saying
See what isn't there
It's the blind that truly see
And the deaf that truly care.
