This World Only Judges

by The Queen of Spades   Apr 10, 2007

Dear mother,
You say you love me
For all I am
That your love
Is utterly eternal
And all these years
I strived to be
The best of myself
The best for you
But as years progress,
As times are changing
You must see, that so am I
I pray you will take this well
I beg you not to cry
Who I am
Is not a choice
Rather a destiny I have finally found
I will love you always
I know this hurts
So it is the hardest thing to say
To tell you with all sincerity
And hope you love me still...
Dear mother...I'm gay.

I really loved the meaning you portrayed behind this poem it was really nice. I think written wise it needs a bit of work though like some words were to much when added together such as utterly eternal and i didnt find any suspense in this poem because the title gave it away. The format was kind of un-neat because the lines were all different lengths. I found the emotion in this poem to be great. Really loved it though. And good on you for telling people this. Really brave. ~mel

Have you showed this to your mother? Does she know yet? If you haven't and she doesn't, I think you should show her. This is a sincere poem and if she truly loves you, she will understand. Or try to, anyway. Good luck to you. Hope all turns out well.

Wow. This poem holds so many emotions, and they're all so in your face, it's amazing. The anxiety, and the bravery... Beautiful. Lovely work.
