Salvation in the Shape of a Cross

by becca   Apr 10, 2007

The world looks blackened through these times,
Everythings darkened and dim,
Societys banished all color,
And is stained with the blackness of sin.
Like a weight that can never be lifted,
Every wrong doing, injustice and lie,
Has burdened every person that walks on this earth,
And has left them destined to die.
And were fighting for peace,
Aging for youth,
Were dying for life,
And lying for truth.

And I wander.

Through the darkness,
The hatred, and pain,
And in despair, I utter a prayer,
For your help and your love once again.

But nothing happens, no Savior comes,
And Im left in the dark all alone,
And I see Satan's eyes, watching my steps,
Waiting to claim me his own.

And just as I think,
All faith is false, And all hope is lost;
A flash of light, a vision before me-
Salvation in the shape of a cross.

The sweetest sacrifice upon it,
The answer to my desperate prayer,
Your glorious face, twisted in pain,
From the load of the burden you bear.
With the weight of the world on your shoulders,
Pinned down by the nails of our sin,
Your pierced hands holding wide the gates of heaven,
To let your children in.
In silent song you call us,
Each adult, boy and girl,
With a loving heart, and arms outstretched,
To embrace a blackened world.
