Playground

Remember the days on the playground
The innocent days and the rhymes
Remember the rhymes we used to recite
When we used to be carefree

Rhymes like Miss Mary Mack,
Or maybe Miss Susie?
Rhymes like these we sung all day
Our fun and innocent spirits alive

Those days on the playground
No bad words or pain
Shut Up was a curse
A scraped knee was about as bad as pain went

We sat their and jump-roped with our friends
Lived our lives how we wanted
And yet somehow we've forgotten those days
Our carefree hearts

Can't we go back to those days?
The days of the rhymes
My friends and I still sit and recite them
Hoping those days will come

So let's make a pact
That we'll try to be kids again
Elementary days are here once more
And we're once again happy and naive

Let's make a pact
We'll think of these rhymes sometimes
Maybe even blurt them out
Even jump to them, get the pain out

Let's make a pact
We can go back to elementary school
We can be little kids again
And live life to its fullest
