There's Glory Without Pain

by Raychil   Apr 11, 2007

"There is no glory
Without pain"
Those 6 short words
Have drove me insane

How can we say them
And believe they are true?
Who really wants
More pain to go through?

You never hear the other side
There can be no glory
You can receive tons of pain
But I guess thats another story

Glory isn't something easy
But you don't have to be strong
You could be quite weak
And prove everyone wrong

Maybe for some
It's just not their time
They go through the pain
But don't get to shine

So why do we do this,
Why do we say,
Why do we tell people,
That pain is ok?

Because to be honest
I can be sure
There is only so much
Some can endure

Why do we push them
Way to far?
Why don't we let them
Be who they are?

Why must they suffer
Just to achieve
Some type of glory
They may never receive

I'm not saying give up
You should always try
But don't take the pain
If you're wondering "why?"

Don't do something
Just to prove
That you are strong
Because you will lose

If it's not in your heart
Don't do it at all
For all of the grief
Will cause you to fall

Don't add more pain
Than life already brings
Don't aim for something
If deep down it stings

Don't expect glory
Just because you hurt
Because sometimes we fall
Straight down in the dirt

If glory is in reach
And you didn't feel pain
Don't try to cause it,
You'll go insane

There can be pain
There can be glory
But both of them are
A different story.

*Sorry if it runs or the lines get all...mixed(?). I just had a rush of thoughts and wants to express them*

I enjoyed reading this poem it had a strong message. Your exactly right though. Why should we have to suffer for glory?

    "Why must they suffer
    Just to achieve
    Some type of glory
    They may never receive"

Yet we have to accept that in this world, in this reality we live in nothing comes easily and sometimes to get to where you want to go you have to endure some pain. Great write though aye

    All the best,
    Bonnie
