Time Without End With Nothing

by Jemma   Apr 12, 2007

Such strong desire ebbs and pulls
It cradles in its clutches the ransom for my soul
I, who perhaps deserve less than I take,
Take into my eyes a vision
It dictates my unrequited love of midnight

I, who dwell in those night time dreams
The prowler that lurks in the shadows,
Still feel, still love, still hate...

How I hate!
It is all dust before my brightened eyes
A light when all else leaves me
The abandoned, the unwanted, the corrupted

I, who am considered guilty
Though no one knows the crime,
Have indeed suffered to commit those wrongs
But I beseech you; do not call me evil
For I have done only what seemed to be right

People know that my words are not lies
Yet refuse to accept them as truth
They squander their lives and their money
A frail attempt to unravel my coils
But still forget about the serpent that lies within
The creature I have been forced to become
So venomous, so dangerous
And I am watching

Through long years I have seen so much
Heard too much
The earth about me changes
But not I
Static as the world plays out before me

Trapped for time without end
In the one moment that I died
The perfect penance
Such a sweet, indescribable torture
To bestow upon the dead the suffering of the living

You forget so much...
The brief taste of a kiss upon your lips
The deep breath of the sky as the sun rises
The way of the world
Of humanity
Your name

But it is my duty to recall those names and places
To merge seamlessly into the scenery
So you would not suspect my duplicity

You cannot restrain me, tame me; the darkness already binds me
And yet in stolen moments I yearn
For something I have never understood
It lies in wait beneath the noon sky
Out of reach, always out of reach
I do not think I could bear the heartbreak
If it were once again so ruthlessly denied me

So contradictory are my duties and desires
I fear the cravings my heart has contrived
How now can my soul survive?

**sad, dark, love? Ok love is at a bit of long stretch but sad or dark?**
