Dashed Dreams

by I Seem to be the Heartless   Apr 13, 2007

I had dreamed
Of that day
Fantasised about it
For as long as I can remember;
To press my face up against the airplane window,
Seeing the Statue of Liberty
Looming up ahead,
Hearing the captain's voice say,
"Welcome to New York.
Hope you enjoy your stay."

But that dream,
That fantasy,
That hope I once has
Has been dashed,
Destroyed
Demolished
Drowned
And I am left crying
Broken
Disappointed.
All I wanted was a chance
For a better life,
But all I am left with
Is dashed dreams...
