Story of My Life

by Brittney Follett   Apr 14, 2007

How can you help me,
If I'm drowning on air?
How can you help me,
If you're not even there.

How can you help,
Dark soul such as mine.
How can you help,
When you think I'm fine.

How can you save me,
Of your lies and deceit.
Why can't you save me,
When I lay at your feet?

I thought I loved you,
You said you loved me,
But you've failed the test,
Your blind as can be.

Your blind to my feelings,
Your blind to my heart.
Your blind to my suffering.
You're ripping me apart.

I'm just asking you to,
Save me from the knife
Your thinking its just sad?
This is the story of my life.

In all honesty, I think you have done better.
There seemed to be a lot of fillers which kind of disrupted the flow.
Apart from that however, it was still pretty good.
I enjoyed the imagery, I thought it was wonderfully used.

    Deceit.

Dark poetry is notmy favorite genre. That being said, I enjoy your poems and the fact that you are willing to share the pain. I empathise with people who suffer from depression and my heart cries for those who self harm. I am glad thatthis poem sharesyour pain in a more conservative way and is not just another cutting poem talking about blood is falling to the floor............I hope that these are not based on your own personal experiences and if they are since you said this was an older poem, I hope that this is only a painful life memory now and not your reality. Thank you for sharing such heartfelt sorrow.
