The First Blink

by gabriel   Apr 15, 2007

The first blink
When our eyes met
Somehow I
Will never forget
Like leaves of autumn's end
You were just another friend

The second blink
It was by chance
Even if it
Was just a glance
I caught you looking twice
So intrigued by
Those deep, brown eyes

The third blink
You smiled at me
Like a Siren of the sea
I felt my heart
Skip one second
Something I
Can't comprehend

The fourth blink
You brushed my arm
Into your eyes I was charmed
You giggled, 'Sorrieee..'
And ran away
I thought of you
The entire day

The fifth blink
You crossed my path
Staring we, simply laughed
Extending your hand
You gave your name
I said mine
It felt pretty lame

The six blink
Together we walked
To have coffee
Behind the block
Both had expresso
Extra shots
I only know
We clicked a lot

The seventh blink
We met for dinner
That same week
Had German wiener
And salmon steak
I knew I was falling
For someone intriguing

The eighth blink
You left for France
To Paris for
A ballroom dance
I waited a week
Or maybe two
Never got
To hear from you

The ninth blink
You called to ask
How I was
That very dusk
Then it came
You said goodbye
You met your love
That long, lost guy

The tenth blink
My tears just fell
How I felt
I couldn't tell
You left me so
I shouldn't think
My heart only knows
That very first blink
