Spring's Change

by 19Rusty   Apr 15, 2007

Birds flutter from tree to tree,
Chirping their mating calls,
Squirrels come alive from a long peaceful sleep,
The soil is an underground city
For bugs that make no sound, yet
The signs of existence come from hills
Of dirt that spring up from the grass, forming
The shapes of snakes as the mounds weave through yards.

The leaves on the ground, damp, that looks
And smells like brown sewage,
Acting as if they were water droplets and disappear
Into thin air, regenerating back to the trees,
Grass, flowers, and timber of all
Shapes, sizes, and color mask its absence.
