Blindness

by Flying Phoenix   Apr 15, 2007

The evening falls through a shadows pane
Glancing out of the window at my garden again
Weeds unruly haphazardly grow
Out in the cold dirt within a stones throw
Yet here inside the warm and light
Capturing hearts so warm and bright
My love surrounded and tendered upon
But outside the harsh and the pain live on
Crying at night in my warm comfortable bed
With layers of softness to cushion my head
Whilst loners and beggars roam the streets
Trying to steal a little money and earn their keep
Oblivious to all yet I cannot find sleep
Worries of love and heartbreak; I am meek
Lost in a world of granted dreams
Not knowing the gifts I do receive
Yet still, now, I cannot think
My mind troubled from conscience's link
And I crawl into a ball of unruly mess
Misplaced in a time, caught undressed
Simple, pitiful, pathetic doubts rule my brain
Still the sick, poor, hungry children remain
I do not a thing for their lives over there
Immovable in my life, I live on unaware
