We were really close friends
Always together still school ends

Together, we would have so much fun

This all happened
when you asked me out
I did not want our friendship to end
So I told you that I really liked you, the three words that came out of my mouth

But, I said no, and prayed you'd understand,
You don't know how much I wanted to
How much I wanted to hold
and caress your hand

We became really close friends
since that day
You asked me out again
In several different ways

But now, there are others who
wouldn't allow us to be together,
Others who didn't
want our friendship to last forever

I didn't want to do this,
I didn't want to let you go,
I truly and deeply loved you,
If only I had time to let you know.
