Gift of Nothing

by debbylyn   Apr 16, 2007

As stars delight the deepening night
When he lays him down to sleep
I wonder if I cross his mind
Or haunt his slumber deep

Do tears remain as patches
Wet on his pillowcase
I wonder if he cries for me
If my memory's been erased

As days fall into darkness
Alone through blackest night
I wonder if my kisses dwell
A bitter lost delight

Cold remains his empty heart
No love left there to see
Somehow I picture nothing
Which is all he gave to me

I missed this one.. what a powerful ending!

I got chills up my spine for some reason while reading this, i think it hit a little too close to home for my liking, lol
    But seriously now, outstanding work!

I in no way to offend, but--Oh my god!--this is absolutely fascinating. I was totally speechless at the moment I finished reading this piece and so I reread it again to make sure if it's just me or something... nevertheless, it has the same effect on me the moment I read it.
What magic weaves this poem to trick me? =]
I was completely entralled by this piece and by you as well, Ms. Debbie. After all, you're an enchanting poet.
