It was too late by then

Who would have known,
that something was very wrong?
The girl with long soft hair,
who barely said a word.
She was really quite shy,
but still really popular.
Her friends were all older,
the most popular grade twelves.
She drank a lot at parties,
and began to fall to pieces.
She'd take a a little break,
and hide herself in the bathroom.
She would quietly disappear,
no one ever knew.
They assumed she was going to the bathroom,
but little did they know.
Behind those walls,
She cried until her lips went blue.
She'd freshen up,
another coat of mascara.
She wasn't drunk enough to tell herself she was happy.
She was surrounded by people,
and yet she felt all alone.
She locked herself up inside,
and forgot how it felt to feel alive.
She would go home,
and let out some pain.
She'd go to bed that night,
not knowing what was wrong with her.
Drowned her pain in the shadows,
she couldn't break free.
She just wanted to be left alone.
