Greenslade

Their ignorant judgments enrage me,
Only a few days ago, brought home in a casket.
They see the violence and the weapon once hung by your side
They make their assumption and can't look past it.

Fighting a pointless war?
They never understood your goal.
Sent by your country to stop the corruption
But to them, another body added to the toll.

They ridicule you,
While the rest of your country grieves.
The disrespect and ignorance
Horrifies me.

The pointless moment of silence
Took up too much of their time.
A man, a hero, a soldier
put his life on the line.

Fighting a war, not even your's
They look down upon your death
It's your fault, it's YOUR fault
you drew your last breath.

One missed step
caused a controversy.
One road bomb
Weakened your country.
One pointless judgment
Made us angry.
One dead solider
Always a hero to me.

A poignant write. From one Maritimer to another ... very well said.
