Town's War (Town's Bane pt.2)

by Rhys   Apr 19, 2007

City builds up to metropolis
While crimson eyes watch the necropolis.
Territory expands with time
Nothing stems this dark tide.

Slowly though killed off they are
As timeless enemies come from far.
War is waged then in those streets
By full moon's light comes battle heat.

Blood is spilled from former immortals
By moonlight's advocates of the slaughter.
Gaping maws seek vampyric flesh
And through it all this hunt is best.

Humans hide from timeless fight
That takes place only in the night.
Neutral ground is gained and lost
And casualties pile up in mosques.

Nightlife lives for adventurous youth
Many think not of battling doom.
For them it seems that folk law died
And idiots are the only ones to hide.

City outskirts of desert where people seldom go
Is where most intense of battles are fought to and fro.
No mortal lays eyes on bloodbaths of black
While night's eerie light signals attack.

People stop coming to this city of fear
And nightlife dies with many a tear.
As fights take over town square and above
Corpses are left as the sunlight comes.

Many a fledging and many a pup
Lie dead on the streets in puddles of blood.
With throats ripped out and heads pulled asunder
Nothing is left now in peaceful slumber.

Children cry out while howls fill the air
Til they are cut off with a single tear.
Night after night the young do fear
And far into morning fall many tears.

The war is won, the people relieved
For no more howls are heard in the street.
Instead the nightmare starts again
It is now as it was then.
