Proof

She was glad it was raining outside,
so he couldn't see her tears.
She was glad it was dark out,
so he couldn't see her face full of fear.

She tells herself that she's glad he's gone,
and that he was just a mistake.
That he was a detour in her path of life,
the path that she wishes she could remake.

Her real feelings never show through,
she likes to live in denial.
So she pulls out her new best friend at night,
to help her reconcile.

She wants them together again,
but she knows he won't take her back.
She's not the same person she use to be,
her arm is proof of that.
