The Pier By The Shore-line.

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Apr 20, 2007

I walk along the golden rocks, looking up to the sapphire sky,
Holding my body against the wind, as a tear falls from my eye,
And I pretend that I am weightless, with a smile on my face -
Forgetting what other people must see; a beautiful disgrace.

Around my neck is your high school ring, hanging from a thread,
As your last good-bye keeps running through my head,
And my heart drops; knowing that in your arms is where she slept,
Before you woke up and out the door you quietly crept -

The rain poured down as your tires slid across the raven road,
A phone call in the middle of the night, as your hand got cold,
And the tears fell as the police drug me behind the caution line,
Beside where your car ran straight through the bright stop sign.

But in your pocket they found the Diamond engagement ring,
Hidden between the folded lyrics that you were going to sing,
And as I walk along the shore, wishing that you were here,
I stand staring at the dock, where we carved our names on the pier.
