Unfaithful

by ASPHYXIATED   Apr 22, 2007

Wife --

Oh c'mon sweetie don't try to hide it,
Her lip stick's plastered along your shirt,
You say nothing happened, but darling,
She's your piece on the side, Your Sunday dirt.
Don't act the fool in our precious game,
Which was nothing more than childish lust,
Your useless lies and cheesy lines,
No longer fulfill my aching thirst.

Husband --

Where's the respect we once held close,
Where's the trust we relied on,
If this was a game, You've broken the rules,
And darling our lust is long gone.
Love doesn't exist my dear,
And commitment is a woman's fantasy,
Forever after just isn't that long,
And I was never part of your destiny.

Wife --

Smart remarks and rehearsed lines,
I should've seen through you at the start,
My mind was full of suspicion,
Yet lost the battle to my lonesome heart.
We all deceive ourselves in the worst of times,
And never repair the damage caused,
Honey stop lying to yourself, its over,
You think you won ; You truly lost.

Absolutly superb concept, one I haven't seen before in a poem. It doesn't flow as well as some of your others, but that probably helps the poem since real life arguments rarely flow perfect. But for the concept alone superb, and I had to keep reading to find out what'll happen next, and what will be said.

This is another lovely poem. I like how it goes back and forth between the two. But the thing is, its never resolved. Like the husband never ADMITS to cheating, so we just go with what the wife believes?
