I agree this is so heartwrenching. The schools need to be more aware of the behind the scenes things that happen to children. It is so sad to be in the situation of a teacher and not know if the choice to talk about it will cause further distress on the student. And then you have the children that are hiding other abuse. The sexual, emotional, and physical abuse that can be hid. Your write has opened my eyes to be more aware of things in my surroundings and report anything that could help that child.
