Gay Marriage; We're Not Much Different Whatsoever

by Lauren Brow   Apr 22, 2007

The government's denied my right to marry,
President Bush couldn't care less about my kind,
Homophobics hate me for being who I am,
Religious people act as if I've committed a crime.

It's obvious now more than ever that,
Society will never accept me for my orientation,
It's funny through; they just don't see,
That we're equal; we're all God's creations.

I shouldn't be hated for being borned this way,
I've always been like this; I had no choice,
It's not right for anyone to make me feel inferior,
They have no right to take my pride or voice.

The government should have no say,
In whom I'm allow to get married to,
Before they judge, rule, & shut me out,
Perhaps they should take a walk in my shoes.

For they would find that it's not easy,
To live gay; within their laws & regulations,
Being gay shouldn't be looked down upon,
Instead it should be a cause for celebration.

Gays love one another; just like straights do,
Our relationships aren't much different whatsoever,
We hug like you do; We laugh like you do,
We have feelings...we want to be together.

It's such a shame that our own president,
Has no compassion for people like me,
For he's too narrow minded & stubborn,
If he opened his eyes; he would see.

President Bush rejects the un-normal,
The misfits who make this world go round,
As he excuses more hate; day by day,
America is starting to hit the ground.

He's a dictator and a quite a tyrant,
I wonder what the first lady has to say?
What kind of father would hate his own daughter,
If she were to be openly gay?

To those homophobes who hate me,
No matter what I do; wrong or right,
I just wanted to let them all know,
That I'll sleep perfectly fine tonight.

It's too bad that they hate me,
When I've nothing to feel ashamed,
Perhaps they're insecure deep down,
All I know is I'm not the one to blame.

Perhaps they grew up in families that,
Taught them to hate those who don't abide,
By the standards set in the bible,
Thier "holy'', "sacred" guide.

Being gay is not a disease or illness,
It does not cause poverty, war, or crime,
If you dislike us; keep it to yourself,
For telling us is just a waste of time.

We're not asking you for money,
Low taxes, new clothes, or cars,
All that we are asking of you is,
For you to respect us for who we are.

We deserve the rights of getting married,
Moving in is not enough; We want it to last forever,
Gay people deserve love just as much as you,
Remember, we're not much different whatsoever.

-Thanks for reading this. Im almost 16 and i wrote it just now as typing it. I know its really really bad, but im not gay nor am I good at writing. Please disregard anything negative you found in it, I was only trying to write it from a different view.-
