My New Life

by I Seem to be the Heartless   Apr 23, 2007

"Welcome to New York," the pilot announced.
"We hope you enjoy your stay."
I got up out of my chair
I couldn't believe this was the day!

We had been flying for 18 hours -
One hell of a flight
And it was all worth it
Although I felt rather like an abderite.

I wasn't sure what day it was
Or even the time
All I knew was that I was here
I was going to make my first dime.

As I walked off the airplane
I saw my first sighting of snow
The feeling was indescribable
And I knew I never wanted to go.

I had found myself
A place to call my home
I was doing it alone -
As always on my own.

But that didn't matter
I had come to start a new life.
I could finally forget about my old country
And all its pain and strife.

'New York' I screamed at the top of my lungs
As I walked out of the airport doors
I knew I had found a new life
Of happiness forever more.

I like it. The flow was good but I think you should find another word for lonesome, for me it kinda like messed up the flow of it. I dont know, just my opinion. Keep it up!
