Looking Through The Eyes Of Love

by Italian Stallion   Apr 24, 2007

"Absence is to love
As wind is to fire,
It extinguishes the small
And kindles the great."

Easy to love,
But hard to hold.
Life comes and goes,
But love lives on.

Love is a journey,
Through littered roads
With broken hearts,
Not a destination.

Follow your heart,
But let your mind
Be the guide
To an everlasting love.

This first stanza says it all. I love how you relate the two and draw it out in a picture for the reader to follow and envision.

I always hear how distance makes the heart grow fonder, but rarely with the same lines of absence smothers a hearts fire.

I think that putting the two together really set this poem off.
