The Waiting Faun.

by InterviewWithTheKat   Apr 24, 2007

The Waiting Faun.

That night again it sat there peacefully
One eye upon the moon.
Breathing deep the forest air,
Regarding the monsoon.

Beneath the tree of bottle green
Dozed its latent form,
After seeking solid shelter
From the passing forest storm.

A colossal head supported
By a long and slender hand,
Its skin was colored bluish-green
But horns of golden sand.

Its tree-like torso, made of bark
The rest: that of a goat,
The face looked slightly human
Most unlike his russet coat.

Breathtaking just to look upon
This very ancient creature,
For he emanated magic
From every single feature.

He may have seemed decrepit
Though for years he had remained,
But soon the time will come,
And all his strength will have regained.

However now, still he sits,
Waiting for the day,
She returns to find her Faun,
And lead him far away.

Then he'll serve her once again,
He'll bid farewell to the rain.
