Asleep in the shadows

by A girl broken until   Apr 24, 2007

I slept in the shadows,
Cried in the dark,
Waiting for someday,
to feel everlasting love.

The winters came,
with no yet return,
i finally gave in and felt my shame,
My soul broke in half,
as did my heart,
I could not smile, not even laugh.

I sat still in darkness,
afraid of the light,
as i slept in the shadows,
and wept in the night.

as the sun set so did my fears,
I could shed no-more tears
I gathered my things and left my place,
No chance of return,
No extravagent chase.

As i walked to my doom,
a story unveiled,
One of rich lives that i always hoped to trail,
a valiant young girl,
whose heart made her burn,
no chance of discovery,
no chance of return.

I left myself behind one last memory,
a song to be sung,
a song to be heard,
a tale of greatness,
a needing of concern.

The world heard my story,
my everlasting glory,
a chance of revival,
but not of survival.

I lay to rest deep in the shadows,
as i cried in the dark,
waiting for everlasting love.
