He looks down on me from Heaven
His countenance graced with knowledge
Sweeps me up out of dry desert sand
And whisks me away from water and land
Swings me from the Southern Sun
Races here and there among the stars with me
until I've won
He wrestles down a comet
And helps me fly it to the moon
Seeing it so closely now
The Big Dipper's just a spoon
I'm enthralled with this adventure
Just my Papaw and me
But my thoughts wander back home
And a tear falls down my cheek
I can't stay with Him forever
But His company soothes me so
It can't be good for me
to have to let Him go
He notices my frown
and turning to me one last time
He says
"Child, there'll be no tears for me.
Know that my life is now sublime.
I go out fishing every day
with the water 'round my feet.
Country music's like it's supposed to be
in Heaven oh so sweet.
I know you won't forget me.
I won't ever leave you alone.
But don't put life on hold
just because I'm gone."
