Embracing Death

by Avaline Wood   Apr 25, 2007

What is there to fear?
A black hooded man with a blade in his hands?
It will happen someday,
Better sooner than later they say.

He's not so frightful,
How bad can it be?
Will there be pain in death as well as life?
Then there really is no escape,
How especially unfair.

If I seem a bit spacey,
It's because I'm not here.
I do what I must and no more,
Every spare moment is spent fast asleep.

I do it for your benefit and mine,
It's far too painful to keep up with man,
The struggle is something I cannot bear.

I have my place,
In my place I wait.
Wait for that day of release.
Embrace the unknown!
I am not afraid.

What is there to fear?
A black hooded man with a blade in his hands?
