Trapped in the back of ballet class
No one sees her angry tears
Forced to calm herself and dance
Admitting to her fears
Beating, bruising, and cutting herself
By making violent moves
Grand-jatteing to the floor
Pirouettes and a bruise
When the teacher asks her
Why she's all beaten up
She just heads back into the class
So she won't disrupt
Doing a flip that nearly killed
She landed on her head
Twisting her neck, near breaking it
She could've been dead
Ending in a hospital
She's on the nineteenth story's ledge
Another one has lost herself

The novel "Dancing on the Edge" inspired me to write this poem. It was just the title, though, because the poem has very little to do with the storyline of the book. It's a great book, by the way, check it out.
