The Ended Path

by Unseen Exposure   Apr 26, 2007

There lies no future ahead of us-
No deep embedded path to tread.
The trees swallow our memories
Their branches capture our thoughts
And the leaves drink our tears.
The shrieks of the wind deafen our bellows
And the darkness hides our fear.
The hills separate us,
And the nothingness prevails.
All that is behind us is lost.
The birds still sing, but it's a new tune-
One I do not know,
One I can no longer comprehend.
Our secrets evaporate in the warmth
Of a new day.
The breeze whispers, “Let go”
And finally we listen.
You take your step as I take mine
But in the opposite directions.
Ahead of me is only green-
A new path, a new beginning.
So you go your way-
And I'll go mine.
