My Sweet Pet

I wrote this poem two days before I had to put one of my rats to sleep, which had upset me very much, because she has been my love for 2 years.

You are my world
And now you're going to die
And I'll be the one to do it
The one having to say 'Goodbye'

I don't want to have to do this
But I know it's for the best
I know you're life it's at it's end
And now you get to rest

For now I say Goodbye
And do what I have to do
Hoping you'll forgive me
Know, that I love you
