Youth Of Yesterday

by Sarah Ann   Apr 27, 2007

We are the troubled of today
The tattered lives with much to say
But cannot speak, and cannot feel
Praying for open arms to heal
The heartache building up inside
Swallowing up our love and pride
Troubled frowns that laugh today
We are the youth of yesterday

We are the leaders of poor souls
Each dressing up in different roles
Behind a mask that shades our face
We are creators of this place
We are segmented, with one heart
Of dreams and wishes torn apart
Troubled frowns that laugh today,
We are the youth of yesterday

We are the unseen and neglected
When interfaced, were all connected
Walking on the darkest street
Compassionate to all we meet
Because for those who see, shall never know
We'll point them to where they should go
And so they don't make our mistake
We'll point them to what road to take

Troubled frowns now laugh today
We are the youth of yesterday.

Well written with a great message, flow and rhyme scheme....like the way you repeat

    "Troubled frowns now laugh today
We are the youth of yesterday. "

at the end of each stanza...

    All the best, Debbie

Omg That was truly amazing. I love the way that this poem flow togater perfectly. The word choice is elegant, and vivid. the emtions strong. clear, and raw. there is absoultly no way to make this better. Now I wish i could write like that. Well done on a excellent job.

The fact that you repeated that in your stanzas really caught my eye, and overall made the poem so much stronger than ever. It touched my heart. You made these words leave an imprint into my mind.

    Take Care aye.
