Step Father

by Jessica Henning   Apr 28, 2007

When i was eight
things turned raw
SIT UP STRAIGHT
DRINK FROM YOUR STRAW

that was becasue of my mom
she let yet another one in
and he couldnt sit calm
now look whats to begin

it started with the back of his hand
it made my face go numb
in the bathroom i would stand
because i didnt want to come

everything was based on his head
the rules cahnged daily
i wished him dead
he made me go crazy

after a while he got bored
he moved to his foot
when we did something wrong his spirits soared
while he kicked we stayed out

after a few months he moved to the cutting board
our pants to our ankles
through the air it soared
he hits with different angles

the moment he turned on her
thats when we had to go
we got to about an acre
and she just couldnt say no

another year passed
of misery and pain
a thousand more blasts
and my tears full of vain

the moment she finally decided
we moved into our own place
the time went by rapid
and the bruises left my face

the memories are still carved in my heart
and the pain here still lingers
the way he tore us apart
left us with our angers

but things got better
we moved on
i write it in a letter
that it was all because of my mom....

Dear, this piece is rather heartrending and tear-jerking to read. Although the scars of your wounds remain, I'm glad that things are going on well with you. I believe everyone makes mistakes in life; so no one is to be blamed, I suppose... The aforementioned stanzas had tugged my heart immensely... reminds me of the remembrances of my painful past...
Be strong and have a good courage. Hope you all the best!
