It Was You Who Chose To End It Like You Did

by Alana   Apr 28, 2007

I'm not sure what has happened,
You were once the one that kept me going,
And i was the one that you lived for.
But now things have changed.
We no longer know every detail of each others lives
And we no longer have our daily two hour phone calls.
You can throw hundreds of excuses at me,
But it was you who chose to end it like you did.

Yes, i started us down this road.
But i fought and fought to put it in reverse,
...It took two hands to shift the gears.
All you had to do was make an effort,
Not in words, but in action.
I guess that was too difficult.
It was you who chose to end it like you did.

There is a point where,
You realize your fighting for a lost cause,
Fighting for the past to become present,
Fighting for someone who is too useless to fight back.
It was you who chose to end it like you did.

So this is. I'm done.
Ill always be here, by your side.
My memories with you will never be forgotten,
My feelings for you will never fade,
And my loyalty to you will never be lost.
Yet no matter what you say,
I know you've forgotten the happiness i once brought you,
Allowed the love in your heart to fade,
And lost the only thing you've ever had.
Just remember,
It was you who chose to end it like you did.

This poem is great! 10/10. It's exactly the way I felt just before my friend decided to end our friendship. Read my poem: I based our friendship on a flower, if u havent already. I think it's the best one I've written and its very personal to me. Great poem xx
