Thanks a lot . . . . DAD

There's always a girl,
who stands by herself.
Inside she feels alone,
she feels so helpless.

If someone would like her,
she'd think it a dare.
She can't ever believe,
that someone might care.

She always hides behind,
her sarcastic mask.
She never shows emotion,
people know not to ask.

She is so scared,
that she'll fall in love.
By falling in love, she could be abused,
she'd be bruised, pushed & shoved.

Caring for anyone is hard,
because of that man.
He took away her trusting,
when he raised her hand.

Of everything I missed,
relationships never had.
I look back now & say,
"Thanks a lot . . . . DAD"

Based on a true story, my biological dad abused my mom, and becuz of that, I have a really hard time trusting people. Especially guys. please let me know what you think of this, it would mean a lot to me if you would comment, with advice or suggestions. Thanks:)
