Slow Dancing On The Milky Way. [Villonnet]

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Apr 30, 2007

Ashen snowflakes danced softly through the raven sky,
Brushing down on your sweet face, and you said:
"Standing here with you tonight, is like slow dancing -
With an angel on the Milky Way, with golden stars in her eyes."

But as a tear lined my eye, you sang me a solemn lullaby,
With our bodies silhouetted against the softened city lights,
And you held me close, your heart beating against my chest as -
Ashen snowflakes danced softly through the raven sky.

Your hand shook when you took mine, you said: "My oh my,
I can see the stories hidden in your bright baby blues,
And Honey, I know that you're scared, but honestly, I am too -
With an angel on the Milky way, with golden stars in her eyes."

Ashen snowflakes danced softly through the raven sky -
You held me in your shaking arms, and you slow danced,
With an angel on the Milky Way, with golden stars in her eyes.

A Villonnet is a hybrid of the Villanelle and the Sonnet. It has the Iambic Pentameter of both,
but holds the four-stanza/line structure of the sonnet, while utilizing the two-line rhyme nature
of the villanelle. The final stanza replaces the sonnet couplet with a typical villanelle tercet.

    I'm not a romantic
But even I have to agree
    This was a sweet poem.
    I don't mean
Hey DUDE, that was totally sweet.
    I mean, romantic sweet.
    Lol.
    Although, like I said..
    A lot like a story.

    Wow. Another amazing poem.
"With an angel on the Milky Way, with golden stars in her eyes."
^ I liked that line, but at the same time I didn't like how you put 'with' in there two times. It sorta threw off the flow; just a tad.

I really liked this poem, it's extremely sweet. The kind that reminds you of the perfect wedding, with the perfect man, eh.

    Keep it up, hun.
