After the Dream

by Lanaia Lee   Apr 30, 2007

I am awakened again, yet by another bad dream
You, right by my side, I wake you not meaning too
These dreams are so real, like being right there, too real they seam
Where these dreams come from, well I haven't a clue.

We are in a car, then we wreck, then the car becomes a ball of fire
From there, I don't know where I am, as I watch you engulfed by the flames
Very traumatic, to say the least, from these things, wish to retire
I don't like playing this nightly game.

So real, it is hard to separate the dream from reality
It's only an awful nightmare, so I have no reason to fear
Why can't my subconscious, just let me be?
From these things, I wish to steer clear
These dreams make me want to run and hide, to just flee.

After each dream, I wake up in a cold sweat
Not being able to move, frozen from the feeling of fear
I'm not psychic, just a stupid stupid dream, so no need to fear, I bet
So, I get up to make you breakfast, as I always do, my dear.

Once again, you must hurry on account of me
Not wanting you to be late for work, I have caused that to happen before
You tell me, it's only a dream, and really I have to agree
But the thought of the dream, cause me to shudder within my very core.

I walk you to the door, kissing you good bye, just as I normally do
You get into the car, one more time being in a very big hurry
You didn't see the other car, as you backed out of the drive way, you were very much within my view
The car hit you, causing the car to explode into flames, I see your face, terror, this I did not wish to see
